This Low-cost Airline Is Expanding in the U.S. With 5 New Routes
Swoop, a low-cost Canadian airline, is adding five US destinations this summer.
WestJet-owned airline will introduce non-stop flights to New York, Chicago, Nashville, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, according to the
firm. San Diego, Palm Springs, Las Vegas, St. Pete-Clearwater, Orlando, and Phoenix will all get more service from the carrier.
Swoop will fly to 11 U.S. locations from Toronto, Hamilton, and Edmonton by summer.
"As part of our planned growth in 2022, we're excited to be adding five new popular U.S. destinations to our network," Swoop's commercial
and financial head Bert van der Stege said. "As Canada's leading ultra-low-cost carrier, we are growing our fleet, expanding our network, and
adding service to existing destinations to ensure we are ready to meet Canadian's pent-up demand for travel experiences south of the border."
The airline's U.S. expansion follows its ambitions to add 10 additional Canadian destinations and launch six new Boeing MAX 8 planes.
Since August, Canada has welcomed vaccinated American tourists. Later this month, it will allow visitors to perform a quick antigen test instead of a PCR test.
International flights will be allowed to land at any Canadian airport, not just a handful.
